Synopsys Showcases Comprehensive Autonomous Engineering Workflows from Silicon to Systems, Developed with NVIDIA Technology

At the 2026 DAC Chips to Systems Conference, Synopsys unveiled new advancements in agentic AI for engineering, developed in partnership with NVIDIA. The company has created fully autonomous, long-running agentic capabilities that span chip design and electronics system design. These workflows are powered by NVIDIA Nemotron and run on NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform, with security provided by the NVIDIA OpenShell runtime.

The new capabilities were demonstrated at DAC for the first time. Synopsys says the technology acts as a force multiplier for engineering teams, allowing complex design tasks to run without human intervention for extended periods. This marks a shift from traditional assisted design tools toward systems that can independently manage entire workflows from silicon architecture to final system integration.

By combining Synopsys' deep expertise in electronic design automation with NVIDIA's high-performance computing and AI frameworks, the collaboration aims to reduce design cycles and improve productivity. The autonomous agents can handle repetitive and complex decision-making processes, freeing engineers to focus on higher-level innovation.

The announcement signals a growing trend in the semiconductor industry toward leveraging AI not just for individual tasks but for orchestrating complete design flows. As chip complexity continues to rise, such autonomous engineering workflows could become critical for maintaining development speed and quality.
