Chris Scheetz has been formally named the executive director of Information Technology Services and chief information officer at the University of MissouriāSt. Louis, solidifying a leadership position he has held on an interim basis since last summer.
Scheetz brings a deep and institutional knowledge to the role, having dedicated more than 25 years of his career to advancing UMSL's technological infrastructure. His journey within the department saw him steadily climb through the ranks, giving him a comprehensive understanding of both the university's needs and the capabilities of its IT division. This extensive experience positioned him as the natural choice to assume the interim CIO responsibilities in July, a role he has now been selected to fill permanently.
In his capacity as chief information officer, Scheetz will oversee all strategic planning, operations, and services for the university's information technology systems. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity and forward momentum on key IT initiatives, leveraging his longstanding commitment to the campus community. University officials expressed confidence that his proven leadership and historical perspective will be invaluable in guiding UMSL's digital landscape through evolving challenges and opportunities in higher education technology.
